Photographing in Istanbul

Photographing Istanbul

Picture taken in Istanbul @Sep 2014.

In the trip, I spent most of my time working at daytime, leaving very limited time to photographing Istanbul. Every night I took my camera then walk out the hotel.

When I show them the taken pictures, there always smiles on their face. This is one of the reasons I love street photography, it overcomes the language barrier & cultural differences, brings people closer together with enjoyment. Another thing has the same ability is ukuleles. Both are my favourites.

The Istanbul’s people love to pose & build up fun atmosphere, they are natural actors & models. On their faces & body language, I can see their passion & happiness has no relation with their living standard or wealth. Whatever roles and jobs, they showed the proud & love of life.

Every photo has its own story.

Two restaurant staffs intentionally make cool faces showing their sense of humour. A waiter holds two cans of soft drink in his hands showing his happy face. Waiters also hold a bunch of food plates showing their hard working. A chestnuts hawker show off his delicious cooked chestnuts. etc..

A taxi driver proudly touch his taxi by his hand, showing his well cared taxi. A petrol station staff also proudly stand next to the petrol gun, telling he loves his job. A tea seller was serving a cup of famous Istanbul tea. etc..

A young street seller proud & loves his handbag business. A cook makes cool pose showing his profession. A watermelon seller showing a juicy watermelon on his hand. A fish shop owner extends both his hands showing his love to people. etc..

This trip & photographing Istanbul inspired me a lot on people cultures. This is the first time I been to this middle east city, what I have seen & felt in Istanbul are very different from my expectation. They live much happier than the people in my living city, although their life are much simpler & less materialistic.

I hope we all passion & love our life like the people of Istanbul.
